Newly received dev kits have increased EA Sports' belief that Wii U can do "anything" that PS3 and Xbox 360 can do, vice president Andrew Wilson informed Eurogamer. "The short answer is yes [we have a better idea of Wii U's power]; the longer answer is not quite," said Wilson. "As every new piece of hardware and every new development library comes through we get a greater understanding of the power. With our early research we had been very happy with the output of the box and we expect that that will only go up moving forward. "There are added challenges for us as developers when you think about rendering on two screens and what that might mean, but we're looking forward to that challenge. "It's still moving," he added, "but I think we'll be able to do anything that we can do on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on the Wii U." The Wii U will be released, officially, after April 2012. Unofficially, Eurogamer can narrow that date to after August, as Darksiders II is a confirmed Wii U launch title, and still over a year away. "It's still moving, but I think we'll be able to do anything that we can do on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on the Wii U." Andrew Wilson, vice president, EA Sports Xbox 360 launched in late 2005, and PS3 launched in late 2006 (March 2007 in Europe). More than five years on, can Wii U not go beyond what PS3 and 360 are capable of? "I think that's our hope," answered Wilson, "but again we're still in the early stages." A large question lingers around what the online capabilities of Wii U will be. Wilson wouldn't say whether new dev kits reveal more online Wii U functionality, but did highlight an "openness and willingness" by Nintendo to listen to their developer and publisher partners. There are people at EA "under very strict NDAs" that are working those online Wii U systems out with Nintendo. "[Online is] something that we're working very closely with Nintendo on," said Wilson. "We are highlighting to them what we believe are the most important elements to that infrastructure to deliver a connected experience that we think is the future of gaming. "We have a series of people who are under very strict NDAs as you can imagine, operating with [Nintendo], building that [online] system out." Andrew Wilson "They have demonstrated an openness and willingness to work with us and work with developers that I think will only land us in a positive place. "We're working through the development with them now," he added. "We have a series of people who are under very strict NDAs as you can imagine, operating with them, building that system out." FIFA 13 will likely be a Wii U launch title, but could be separated, in terms of release date, from the other FIFA 13 SKUs. "The timing of that VIP party [Wii U launch] is largely dependent on Nintendo," said Wilson, "which we're waiting to hear like everyone. "We're preparing development and we will make a judgement-call on the timing of that and how it relates to the other platforms once they have a better idea of when they're launching." Wilson said development of FIFA 13 on Wii U has not begun. "Not yet," Wilson remarked. "We are in pre-production for everything on FIFA, so we have our long-lead team thinking about Kinect ... Wii U ... What FIFA looks like on PS3, PC, Xbox 360 in general. But the core team is still finaling FIFA 12. So it's very much an early pre-production ideation phase right now."

The PC version of Driver: San Francisco requires a permanent internet connection, Ubisoft has confirmed. In a Tweet from the official Driver Twitter account in response to a follower question on the matter, community developer for Ubisoft on the Driver and Rabbids brand Mathieu Willem said: "PC version requires permanent internet connection." Responding to a follower disappointed by the news, Willem Tweeted: "Bear in mind though that the PC version of DRVSF is released simultaneously to consoles." Driver: San Francisco's game page on digital shop Steam sparked the discussion. "3rd-party DRM: Ubisoft's Online Services Platform. Ubisoft requires a permanent internet connection to play this video game at all times," Steam says. Meanwhile, in another Tweet, Ubisoft said with regards to the home console versions: "Online Uplay Passport activation required (once) for multiplayer and bonus features." Uplay Passport is Ubisoft's version of the controversial online pass. It costs £7.99 on PS3 and PC while Xbox 360 owners pay 800 Points (£6.80). "Uplay Passport-enhanced" games require gamers to input a code to unlock online modes and other "exclusive features". New retail versions include the code, while second-hand buyers must stump up for access. Driver: San Francisco will be the first game to incorporate the system when it launches on 2nd September. Ubisoft has endured a difficult time with PC gamers over its always-on internet DRM. Last year the company told Eurogamer that its "online services platform" for PC games will "evolve and improve" but was here to stay. "Most forthcoming Ubisoft PC titles will use our online services platform," a spokesperson explained, adding, "As with any online technology, we are constantly working to evolve and improve it." Ubisoft's online platform requires PC gamers to be connected to the internet while they play. But problems arise when authentication servers are unavailable or unresponsive. This was felt first with Assassin's Creed II and Silent Hunter V and then with Settlers 7. The result has been fans unable to play games they've purchased, sometimes for days at a time.

First, connect up a USB flash drive to your computer and make sure it has enough free space on it. Also, make sure it’s formatted as FAT32 and not NTFS. Next download the latest update for the Xbox Make sure you keep the name of the zip file(for example) as $SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip. Once downloaded, go ahead and extract out the zip archive to the root of your USB flash drive. Now all you have to do is take the USB stick over to your Xbox console, plug it in and then turn on the console. It will automatically start the update program. At the prompt, select Yes, update now. When you see the Xbox Dashboard, that means the update has been completed! Pretty easy eh!

FPS sequel Crysis 2 has now sold in three million copies worldwide, publisher EA has announced. Portal 2, Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age II, meanwhile, have all broken the two million mark, while FIFA 11 nears 15 million units and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 nine million. The numbers come from EA's fiscal Q1 earnings report, which saw the publisher log non-GAAP net revenue of $524 million, down slightly from $539 million this time last year. Digital revenue was picked out as a highlight though, increasing 11 per cent to $209 million. "This was another solid quarter driven by both digital and packaged goods," commented CEO John Riccitiello.

Info apie pirmaji DLC siam zaidimui: Gearbox Software has lifted the lid on the first set of Duke Nukem Forever DLC. The Hail to the Icons Parody Pack arrives this Autumn, adding four new multiplayer maps and a handful of new game modes. As detailed over on the game's official forum, the new maps are as follows: * Call of Duke – Duke engages in modern combat in a war-torn city. Foes don’t stand a chance against the Duke when he spams the map with the N00b T00b. * Sandpit – Players take the role of mini-Duke in a giant sandbox with two bases at either end made out of children’s toys. This map features Sticky Bombs. * Inferno – Time machine engage! Duke does combat in a hellish landscape of lava and teleporters. Who turned on the 16-bit graphics, and more importantly, where did this DFG come from? * 2Forts1Bridge – Hats? Duke doesn’t need no stinking hats. Give him a minigun and he’ll beat off all comers. As for the new modes, Freeze Tag sees players teaming up to freeze and shatter their opponents for point streaks and combos; Hot Potato tasks you with attempting to hold on to "the babe" for as long as possible; and Hail to the King is a free-for-all. No word on a price yet, other than that all First Access Club members who registered before the game launched in their country get free access.

As announced at Comic-Con this weekend, and reported by GameSpot, Resi 4 will be up for download from 20th September, with Code: Veronica X following a week later on the 27th. No word on a price yet, but we're chasing down Capcom and will update if we hear back. Xbox 360 customer will need to look under the Games on Demand tab, rather than in the Arcade section. As detailed earlier this month, the move has allowed Capcom to include 1000 Achievement points, rather than be restricted to XBLA's 200 point ceiling.

Apie X360 ir PS3 pardavimus ir kiek MS konsolė priekyje lyginant su Sony.... Info Games industry analysts believe the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 are approaching similar global sales. 55 million Xbox 360 units have been sold, putting Microsoft's console just five million units ahead of the PlayStation 3. The Xbox 360, which launched a year before the PlayStation 3, has been buoyed by the success of ten million-selling motion-sensing add-on Kinect. But, according to EEDAR's Jesse Divnich, for the first six months of 2011 the PlayStation 3 sold ten per cent more than the Xbox 360 worldwide. "If one looks at the total amount of sales through the first six months of 2011, the PlayStation 3 has sold about ten per cent more than the Xbox 360, worldwide, so the PlayStation 3 is definitely gaining ground," Divnich told IndustryGamers. "The Xbox 360 does have a five per cent lead over the PlayStation 3 worldwide, a minimal difference," Divnich continued. "We do know based on our consumer surveys that the replacement rate among Xbox 360s are slightly higher than the PlayStation 3 (the Nintendo DS is the highest, as it is expected for portable electronics). The PlayStation 3 was a tad bit more technologically future proof from the start compared to the Xbox 360. "I think if you weigh in those factors, the race is neck and neck." This month Microsoft declared it will be ahead of other consoles worldwide by the end of 2011. "We expect Xbox 360 to maintain its lead and to be number one worldwide by the end of the year, selling more hardware units than PlayStation and Wii," the company stated. M2 Research's Billy Pidgeon said the PS3 could bypass the Xbox 360's installed base if Microsoft releases a new console. "Should Microsoft release a successor to Xbox 360 and shift the pipeline for hardcore games over to the new consoles, that would be a possible scenario by which PS3 could bypass Xbox 360's active installed base," Pidgeon said. "This scenario would give PS3 the opportunity to soak up the hardcore sector." Avatar Kinect'as jau čia.. Info Avatar Kinect is out now. The motion-controlled Xbox Live social hub is available to download for free as part of Kinect Fun Labs. It weighs in at 658.59MB. Grab it from Xbox.com now. First announced at CES back in January, Avatar Kinect lets you shoot the breeze with your friends' avatars in one of 15 different virtual settings. The app tracks your facial movements and maps them onto your avatar while you chat. Despite being a chat tool, like other Fun Labs apps Avatar Kinect has eight achievements with a total of 50 points. Ir čia pabaigai šiek tiek fun

Microsoft's 343 Industries has been working on Halo 4 for two years. In a panel discussion at Comic-Con reported by GameSpot, Halo franchise boss Frank O'Connor said it was a relief to announce the 2012 Xbox 360 exclusive at E3 last month because the team has been working on it in "relative secrecy for a couple of years". Halo's Covenant-beating hero will appear "changed" in Halo 4. And there's a story behind his new look – yet to be revealed. Some time has passed since the events of Halo 3, when the Chief finished the fight. Halo 4 opens with him floating through space towards an alien planet. "A lot of things have changed in that intervening period," O'Connor has teased. Halo 4, out late 2012, follows 343 Industries' upcoming original Halo re-make - Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - out 15th November. Anniversary includes a similar mechanic to Halo 3: ODST's terminals and data pads. The mechanic will provide insight into Halo 4 and extra backstory, with nutty AI Guilty Spark the subject. Meanwhile, the panel discussed the upcoming Halo novels. Halo: Grasslands, due out in October, is set between Halo 3 and Halo 4, a time when Master Chief is adrift in space.
