  3. Kodėl Sony nusprendė į Vita įdėti 512 ramų Straipsniukas Vita's 512MB of RAM enables it to run programs in the background while gamers are playing games, Sony has said. One of those programs is cross-game voice chat via Vita's Party system. "Part of the reason [for including 512MB of RAM] is more RAM means easier development for game developers," Sony president of Worldwide Studios Shu Yoshida told Eurogamer at Gamescom. "But as important as that is to allow the PS Vita always to do more while the game is running in the background, or when you switch between the game and other applications or system software functionalities. "So the reason why we were able to include something like Party, which enables cross-game voice chat, is because we designed Vita so it always has enough resources to handle something like that behind the game while it's running." At Gamescom Sony revealed the final specifications of Vita, set for launch in Europe in early 2012. The confirmation of 512MB of RAM ended months of speculation about the power of the machine, speculation sparked by a comment by a developer that appeared to back up murmurings that Sony had halved the amount of memory in Vita. The RAM reduction rumour began in May when a French source said Sony had lowered the base Wi-Fi Vita model's RAM from 512MB to 256MB to lower the cost of the unit to compete with Nintendo's 3DS. But according to Yoshida, Sony never even considered cutting the amount of memory powering the portable. "It has been very funny," he said. "There were some rumours for the last few months. Some developer mentioned the RAM was halved. We never announced the amount of RAM, and we never changed it. "We've been making games, right, and we've been showing the games, like Uncharted, since January. If RAM gets cut in the middle of development, there's no way we can complete the games. So I was like, what's going on? "I got lots of Tweets saying, Sony made a huge mistake by reducing the amount of RAM. We never talked about the amount of RAM and we never cut it. "So going into Gamescom we agreed there was no reason we should hide it, so we just added it to the specifications. We always had 512MB of main RAM and 128MB of V-RAM. Actually when you add them together, PS Vita has more RAM than PS3 [the PS3 has 256MB of XDR DRAM main memory and 256MB of GDDR3 video memory]." The speculation around Vita's RAM caused some concern over the power of the final version of the machine. Yoshida moved to reassure gamers about this. "So far we've been getting very positive reactions from our developer and publisher partners," he said. "We could put even more power into the portable, but there has to be a balance made between the size of the unit, the weight and the amount of time you can play. We think we've hit the right balance in terms of creating a great experience on the PS Vita. "The PS3 provides a full HD experience. The resolution on the PS Vita screen is much lower. Even though it's four times the resolution of PSP, compared to the console, the amount of data you have to push is much smaller. So that works to the advantage of the PS Vita."

    From Dust

Žinios apie PC versijos problemas Info Ubisoft has incurred the wrath of its PC userbase over the state of the desktop version of From Dust. As detailed in full over on Rock, Paper, Shotgun, users have taken to the game's official forum with a long list of grievances about the port. First and foremost is the game's DRM. The publisher had originally pledged, via a message board post, that users would only need to sign in once to register the game. However, the released version actually demands you sign in at the start of every play session. The initial statement was later removed from the forum, then re-posted today with an update stating "Details of the following post are being checked - expect an official statement shorty." A new post has since clarified that you will need to log-in every time you boot up the game. On top of the DRM brouhaha, users are reporting a litany of technical issues with the PC port, including start-up crashes, a locked 30fps framerate, no anti-aliasing, no graphical customisation settings and all manner of bugs and glitches. A message from the forum manager advised anyone having a problem with the game to get in touch with customer support. "Reporting the issues to them is the first step to them creating a patch, so please make sure you are reporting it directly to them. "I have alerted the team about the issues people are facing, however these forums are not designed to offer support - so if you need help, please contact them directly." The Xbox Live Arcade version of Eric Chahi's ambitious god game won a glowing 9/10 from Eurogamer last month. A PlayStation 3 version is due out next month.

  8. Apie MS ir Japonija Straipsnis Microsoft has responded to recent concern over the Xbox 360 in Japan, dismissing the suggestion it will pull out of the market. Microsoft endures high-profile struggles in Japan with the Xbox 360, which continues to sell poorly. Recent reports suggested Japanese retailers were removing the Xbox 360 from sale, but Microsoft told Eurogamer at Gamescom it remains committed to making the console a success there. “No, of course we're not pulling out,” Chris Lewis, Microsoft's European boss, told Eurogamer. “It's a challenging market. We are up against very strong competition there. All of our competition is strong. We're very respectful of what Sony and Nintendo do and where they've come from and what they bring. “Nintendo, particularly with the Wii, have opened up a market opportunity there. We've leapfrogged that handheld technology with Kinect. What we're seeing is users love using their own body without worrying about how to work a controller. So we see ourselves as, frankly, a company that does bring an awful lot of firsts, and we've enjoyed fabulous success with Kinect.” There are a slew of Xbox 360-exclusive, Japanese-made video games in development, including Capcom's Kinect-fuelled Steel Battalion, which Eurogamer saw this week at Microsoft's Gamescom Play Day event. It remains to be seen whether Steel Battalion and games like it will boost sales of the Xbox 360 in Japan, which saw a dramatic 46.7 per cent year-to-date decline in sales this week, according to Media Create. Microsoft has sold 1.5 million Xbox 360 units in Japan – six years after launch. The Nintendo 3DS, boosted by a price cut, has already outsold the Xbox. But Lewis suggested Microsoft will use next month's Tokyo Game Show to show its continued investment in Xbox 360 in Japan. “Japan remains important to us. We're very committed to that market. The development community there is very important. Tokyo Game Show will be a notable element in the year as usual.”
  9. Regis, kad D3 visgi pasieks konsoles Daugiau Info Blizzard has given its firmest indication to date that Diablo 3 is coming to consoles. While lead designer Josh Mosqueira stopped short of confirming the port out right during a Gamescom press conference today, he stated that the developer "is very, very serious about bringing the Diablo 3 experience to the console." He added that, as reported earlier this year, Blizzard is currently in the process of recruiting a team to handle a potential console version of the action RPG sequel. "Today, we're trying to build the best console team at Blizzard. We're looking for programmers, designers, artists who think their dream job would be to bring Diablo to the console. Trust me, it is a dream job. "All I can say is it's going to be awesome. Stay tuned." The PC version of the game is still without a firm release date though an open beta is expected to go live before the end of September.

  16. Sony has finally confirmed that it hasn't halved the PlayStation Vita's RAM. As reported by 1UP, a spec sheet that went out today detailing the handheld's social networking support also offered up a few technical specs, including confirmation that the system has 512MB of RAM and 128MB of dedicated VRAM. Earlier this year, reports circulated that Sony had decided to cut the RAM back to 256MB in an effort to keep manufacturing costs down so it could better compete with the 3DS. Sony's whizzbang portable is due to launch on these shores in early 2012 for €249.99.
Info Nintendo will launch a redesigned version of the Wii in time for Christmas. The new-look Wii will be sold in a bundle with mini-game collections Wii Party and Wii Sports, reports ONM. Gamers will also get the new Wii Remote Plus controller and a Nunchuck. The console's facelift will allow the device to better sit horizontally rather than vertically. It's the first redesign for the Wii since the console's launch in 2006, although various coloured versions have been issued. The new configuration looks like a blend of Wii and Wii U designs: Taipogi yra ir blogų naujienų GC fanams, kadangi ši naujoji Wii versija GC žaidimų nebepalaikys Info Nintendo has cut backwards compatibility from the just-announced Wii redesign. The new-look Wii redesign will no longer support GameCube games or hardware, the company has confirmed. This means gamers will be unable to use GameCube pads when playing Wii games such as Mario Kart Wii or Smash Bros. Brawl. Has Nintendo slimmed the Wii simply by chopping off its GameCube controller and memory card slots, currently hidden away under the console's top flap? Gamers who want the new Wii and still wish to avoid motion controls must upgrade to the Wii's equivalent pad, the Classic Controller. A Donkey Konga bongos equivalent has yet to be confirmed. Jeigu palaikytų GC žaidimus pradėčiau galvoti apie jo įsigijimą,bet kita vertus turiu pačią GC konsolę...na įdomu kokia šio leidinio kaina bus pas mus ir kada bus...
