Dar gandu apie Kinect II Kinect II Microsoft plans to release a next-generation Kinect device so accurate it can lip read, sources have told Eurogamer. Kinect 2 will come bundled with future Xbox consoles, we understand. The intention is that Kinect 2 will offer improved motion sensing and voice recognition. One development source told Eurogamer that Kinect 2 will be so powerful it will enable games to lip read, detect when players are angry, and determine in which direction they are facing. Kinect 2 can track the pitch and volume of player voices and facial characteristics to measure different emotional states. The current Kinect is hamstrung by having to pass data to the Xbox 360 through ageing USB technology - an issue discussed by Eurogamer last year. When Kinect launched in November 2010 the depth sensor was set at a 30 frames per second limit and a 320x240 resolution limit. The issue relates to the USB controller interface, which is capable of around 35MB/s, but it only uses around 15/16MB/s. This artificial limit is in place because multiple USB devices can be used at once on an Xbox 360. Kinect 2, however, can feed the next Xbox more information, and thus a higher resolution CCD [charge-coupled device]. "It can be cabled straight through on any number of technologies that just take phenomenally high res data straight to the main processor and straight to the main RAM and ask, what do you want to do with it?" our source said. Microsoft reportedly plans to launch two very different versions of the next Xbox. According to a Digital Foundry report on GamesIndustry.biz, the first is a "pared down machine" to be released as cheaply as possible. It is likened to a set-top box, and will act as a Kinect-themed gaming portal. The second is a "more fully-featured machine" with optical drive, hard disk and backwards compatibility. This would be aimed at hardcore gamers and released at a higher price-point. Next-generation talk has ramped up in recent weeks, with Edge reporting that the next Xbox will launch late next year. Digital Foundry believes this is unlikely, however, suggesting a 2013 launch. The console is rumoured to be set for a reveal at E3 2012. Edge also claimed advanced development kits were already at major publishers and their teams - a suggestion corroborated by Eurogamer sources. We have been unable to verify the rumour that AMD is providing the GPU, however. A report by MSNerd called the next Xbox the Xbox Loop - or the Xbox TV, which may relate to the rumoured cheaper Kinect 2 SKU. Eurogamer understands Loop was the codename of Microsoft's early motion-sensing technology that predated Nintendo's July 2008 Wii Motion Plus announcement. It was a device that wrapped around a player's arm, and was said to be more accurate than both the Wii and the PlayStation Move controller. Microsoft told Eurogamer it "does not comment on rumour or speculation".

Taigi originalaus soundtracko turbut nebus Info Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD probably won't include the original soundtrack, Activision has said. "Probably not," was Activision community mouthpiece Dan Amrich's assessment on the One of Swords blog. "First of all, 'original soundtrack' to which game?" Amrich asked. "THPS HD is not a straight reissue; it's neither THPS1 or THPS2, but a new game based on the levels and gameplay from both of those games. "Second, music licensing is a one-time deal. The songs from the original games were only licensed for those specific games on those specific platforms at that specific time. Any other versions created later would need new licensing deals. This is also why not all songs from earlier Guitar Hero games are importable into later games: They only signed permission for it to be used in that one game. Any change means it's a different deal." Amrich did offer veteran Tony Hawk's fans a glimmer of hope, though. Activision may try to get some of the songs from the original games, "but it's simply not a sure thing". He pointed to the game's Facebook page, where fans can make request. "But from a legal/licensing standpoint, they are back to square one," Amrich explained. "Having the same levels of the original games is not the same thing as having the same soundtrack. "Third, consider that the THPS series was famous helping break new bands on its soundtracks; the reason a lot of these songs are such a strong part of people's memories - beyond sheer repetition during gameplay! - is that THPS is the game that introduced you to that song or that artist. It's entirely possible that the devs will stick with that tradition and mix up some classic tracks with new music. If that turns out to be the case, all you can hope is that some of those classic tracks are the ones you remember." Amrich doesn't expect an announcement on the soundtrack "for some time". "Worst case scenario? Create a playlist and play the old songs while you play the new game. And cross your fingers in the meantime." Downloadable game THPSHD includes "the best levels from THPS1 and THPS2, rebuilt and remastered for modern machines by Robomodo. "School" and "Downhill" are included. "It's the "best of our first two games but for the new consoles," Tony Hawk said ahead of the Spike VGAs. "All the same gameplay people love and the joystick controls, big scoring combos and a lot of the classic stuff we had but some new stuff as well." Gamers will enjoy the old school Pro Skater gameplay because of "the replayability" Hawk added. "People can come back to it and find new challenges to do, not just the ones we set up for them. But we're going back to the old two minute challenges, collect the letters, get the combos, get the scores. I'm out of my mind excited about it." Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (Tony Hawk's Skateboarding in Europe) launched in 1999 for the PlayStation, and was later ported to the Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 launched a year later, again on PlayStation with later ports.

Visai neprasti šio žaidimo pardavimai The fate of two of the big name titles missing from yesterday's US November top 10 has been revealed. NPD analyst Anita Frazier told Eurogamer that Michel Ancel's well-reviewed platformer Rayman Origins sold just over 50,000 copies during its first four weeks on sale. She didn't reveal where it placed on the chart, though, for some context, Super Mario 3D Land managed 625,000 and didn't make the top 10. Sales of Origins were similarly underwhelming on this side of the Atlantic too, where the game failed to make the UK top 40 in its debut week. Frazier also revealed that Sonic Generations was the 26th best-selling title of the month. No sales figure was quoted. While Rayman's showing will no doubt disappoint Ubisoft, it can take some solace in Assassin's Creed: Revelations' performance. The publisher announced sales of the latest game in the franchise were up 10 per cent year-on-year on 2010's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. That puts its first month total at around 1.26 million.

UPDATE: Alan Wake's American Nightmare launches on Xbox Live Arcade in Q1 2012, developer Remedy Entertainment has confirmed. ORIGINAL STORY: The new Alan Wake game is called Alan Wake's American Nightmare. A trailer shown during the Spike Video Game Awards confirmed the title, which was leaked last week via the German ratings board. The enemy is Mr. Scratch, from the end of Alan Wake. Alan Wake is an Xbox Live Arcade game with a "pretty damn impressive storyline that expands the original in some interesting ways," developer Remedy previously insisted.
