OSRS Raid Guide: Gears and More

Old School RuneScape has plenty of good things going for it. The problem with it, however, is that it’s stuck in the past. It’s for a good reason, as the game’s selling point is its nostalgia factor. But just last year, Jagex decided to bring the game up to speed and on par with the present. How? By adding a kind of content that more advanced MMORPGs already have: Raid. And for OSRS, it’s the Chambers of Xeric.

If you haven’t tried raiding are considering it because of the OSRS gold you can possibly earn, here’s a handy guide that will help you out.

Gearing Up: Best, Better, Good

First things first: gear. If it’s important to put the right kind of gear for a specific situation, then it’s 10 times more so in a Raid. For Chambers of Xeric, there are three recommended gear setups.

The most highly recommended gear setup would mostly consist of Void gear. Have Void Melee/Ranger/Mage Helm for the head; Elite Void Top and Robe; and Void Knight Gloves. As for the rest, have the following gear:

• Amulet: Amulet of Torture
• Cloak: Ava’s Assembler
• Weapon: Zamorkarian hasta/Crush weapon/Trident of the Swamp/Toxic Blowpipe
• Shield: Avernic Defender
• Ranged: Dragon Javelin
• Boots: Primordial Boots
• Ring: Ring of Suffering
• Special Weapons: Dragon Warhammer/Bandosgodsword

For less effective yet more accessible alternatives, you can have Void Knight top and robe rather than Elite Void. The rest of the alternatives are the following:

• Helm: Helm of Neitiznot
• Amulet: Salve Amulet
• Weapon: Heavy Ballista/Twisted Bow
• Shield: Dragon defender
• Ranged: Arrows if using Twisted Bow
• Gloves: Barrow’s Gloves.

Lastly, for the least effective (but still effective) gear, have Bandoschestplate and tassels. The other alternatives are:

• Weapon: Abyssal Tentacle
• Shield: Arcane Spirit Shield/Malediction Ward

Skills That Matter

Aside from the right gear, you’ll also need to have the right skills. That means 90 Combat, 90 Void, 55 Farming, and 78 Herblore. With these skills at those levels, you’ll be able to finish the raid easily and more effectively.

On the other hand, if you want to have a much easier time, or you just don’t want to be alone, you can always bring people along with you. As they say, the more, the merrier. However, keep in mind that the strength of the enemies in this raid instance scales with the participants’ overall combat. Be that as it may, that doesn’t mean you should just do the raid alone or specifically handpick players that have low or bare-minimum levels of combat. In the end, it’s still better to party up with players that have high levels of combat despite the scaling, since you’ll still do better either way.

Don’t Forget: Items and Knowledge

Stacking up on consumables is also an important part of preparation before entering the Chambers of Xeric. And for the raid, you’ll needSuper Combat Potion, Ranging Potion, 2-3 Stamina Potions, Sanfew Serum, and 1-3 Super restores. Then it’sHigh-level food or saradomin brews for the rest of the inventory slots.

Last but definitely not least, it’s vital to read up on the mechanics that you’ll be facing when inside the dungeon. If you’ve played other MMOs, you’ll know that this is standard procedure before running a raid. The same goes here with The Chambers of Xeric. We obviously can’t put everything about the dungeon here so you’ll have to consult outside sources for this. A simple Google search will give you plenty, so don’t worry about not finding any.

Raiding is tough, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable. But in order to enjoy a raid, you’ll have to be prepared. Having said that, enjoy the Chambers of Xeric. Trust us, you will.
