About a couple of months ago, Activision and Treyarch held a live press conference to officially reveal that the forthcoming first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 would contain 3 different Zombies experiences at launch. Now, the studio has decided to offer up a closer look at two of those modes – that is, Voyage of Despair and IX – by releasing a brand new trailer that details how their stories are connected.

As seen below in the Chaos Story Trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s Zombies, potential players are introduced to Scarlett Rhodes, who has become determined to solve the reasons behind her worldly and eccentric father’s mysterious disappearance. Instead of going it alone, though, she will be accompanied by three others with  likes of Diego, Bruno, and Shaw joining her to fight what seems to be innumerable waves of the undead and uncover a prized relic that contains “an extraordinary power that threatens all of humanity.”

Throughout the course of the adventure, Scarlett and her cohorts manage to inadvertently time travel. To be specific, the group is initially squaring off against the undead on the Titanic in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s Voyage of Despair, only to then end up in what is IX’s presumed setting of ninth century Rome. While the former appears to contain its fair share of thrills, chills, and spills, what’s shown off of IX will likely be more appealing to Black Ops 4 fans, as there’s not only a bloodthirsty zombie Bengal tiger to fight, but also the trailer confirms firearms will be accessible even though it’s set in the distant past.

Taking all of this into consideration, it will be interesting to see if Activision and Treyarch’s plan to focus more so on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s multiplayer and Zombies instead of including a more traditional story campaign will pay off in the long run. Of course, we will simply have to wait and see how first-person shooter aficionados respond and how the game itself fares in sales once the sequel comes out later this year.

Black Ops 4 Releases New Zombies Mode Trailer

For many, Zombies play a pivotal role in the Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise, with this sentiment likely to carry over into the fourth entry that is set to release in just a few weeks’ time. After all, its zombies are even being used to make its forthcoming battle royale mode, Blackout, stand out amongst the competition. Still, many are looking forward to the Zombies mode, and Treyarch has seen fit to release a new trailer for it.

Thus far, we know about three maps in the forthcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies mode: Voyage of Despair, Blood of the Dead, and IX. The first is set upon a doomed trans-Atlantic ship, the second is set in a prison, and the final, IX, is set in a gladitorial arena, which is the map shown off in the trailer and set to the musical talents of Avenged Sevenfold.

As seen below, Treyarch is showing off gameplay, plot points, unique guns, and of course, the gold-faced Illuminati. At one point, it even appears IX could contain zombie tigers.

While Zombies will always have a special place in the hearts of CoD fans, many are notably upset by the lack of a story mode. Although Black Ops 4 promises the biggest Zombies experience, a battle royale mode worthy of the Call of Duty name, and a solid multiplayer component, the developers recently discussed the lack of a story campaign – a feature that many have come to expect, even if many did not always play it.

Essentially, Treyarch was looking to make BO4 a full social experience, so considering every aforementioned mode includes multiple players, it makes sense. Nevertheless, those who remain upset about this may take solace in the fact that Treyarch is heavily considering player feedback, as evidenced by the recent changes to armor in Blackout. Presumably, Zombies will get this extensive treatment as well.

:yao:

On the official Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 FAQ, it has been clarified that while the game requires 55 GB of hard disk space after installing the day one update, you will need around 115 GB of hard disk free in order to actually download and install the game. If you have bought a retail copy, there is a roughly 50 GB day one update that has to be downloaded first before playing the game. This patch is already available for the digital version so only retail copies will be affected by this change.

Before playing for the first time, players will need to download and install a day one update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This update must be installed completely in order to access Multiplayer, Zombies, and Specialist Headquarters. Blackout is fully playable once installation is about 30% complete (approximately 16-20 GB).

For an optimized download experience, players should have 112 GB of free hard drive space – note that this is not the size of the download, it is the amount of space required to complete the installation process. The final installation footprint will be approximately 55 GB. In order to play Blackout before the full installation is complete, select “Update to Latest Version” when the prompt appears.

The day one update package is roughly 50 GB. Download speeds may vary based on region, platform, connection type, and the speed of your internet connection.
