Sony and Crytek Collaborating to Bring Robinson: The Journey Exclusively to PlayStation VR CRYENGINE unleashed for PlayStation VR

Frankfurt am Main (Germany) October 27, 2015 – Combining the breathtaking immersion made possible by PlayStation VR and the game-changing power of CRYENGINE, Crytek today announced a partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment to bring new IP “Robinson: The Journey” exclusively to the upcoming PlayStation^®4 virtual reality platform. 

Developed by Crytek, Robinson: The Journey invites players to become pioneers as they crash-land on a mysterious planet and set out to uncover the rich secrets it conceals. The game is being crafted to capitalize on the boundless potential of PlayStation VR, and will empower gamers to explore the stunning world around them with an entirely new degree of freedom. The cooperation between Sony and Crytek also underscores the versatility of CRYENGINE for other developers looking to unleash their ideas on powerful VR hardware.

Crytek announced today that its sci-fi VR adventure, Robinson: The Journey, will launch on Oculus Rift in January. Robinson: The Journey was originally released exclusively for Sony’s PS4VR, but it’s now coming to the PC.

As the press release reads, Robinson: The Journey invites players to step into the shoes of Robin – a boy left stranded on an extrasolar planet in the aftermath of a doomed space voyage.

Accompanied by AI unit HIGS and baby T-Rex Laika, Robin must use his wits to survive in a world full of adventure, secrets, and breathtaking dinosaurs.

Oculus Rift players will feel truly present in another reality as they search for fellow survivors and unravel the mystery at the heart of Robin’s journey.
