Techland has just released a new update for the PC version of Dying Light. This new patch adds a new mode to the game, as well as over 50 new weapons, 4 outfits as a rewards for finishing the story campaign and a new weapon rarity level. This patch will be auto-downloaded, and you can view below its complete changelog.

Half a Year with Dying Light | What Comes Next?

To celebrate half a year of Dying Light after Dying Light’s release, Techland compiled a video of all the major content updates and add-ons they have released since launch day. The video also teases the next big addition to its zombie-infested world, which the company is set to preview behind closed doors at Gamescom 2015, with the big public reveal soon after that.

The ‘180 Days of Content’ video showcases of how much Dying Light has grown through these six months to become an experience bigger and richer than ever before. On top of traditional DLCs, there were also many free content drops designed with fan feedback in mind and created as a way of thanking everyone who helped make Dying Light one of Techland’s most successful titles to date.

 

Dying Light: The Following

 

Techland describes Dying Light: The Following as a thing which includes "a number of bold game-changers to create one massive expansion. Something big that will give the game a brand-new flavor. The new map alone is the same size as all the previous maps from Dying Light combined, so there is a lot we’re packing in here."

The developer also confirmed that Dying Light: The Following will include a number of new features, including vehicles and a new story mode. More details on it is promised at GamesCom 2015.

"We also kept a close eye on player feedback to help tailor what we've created here. Hopefully people will see that this new expansion is first and foremost, for the fans."

Dying Light: The Following will be available for Season Pass holder for free of cost, and for others it will carry a price tag (details still unknown).

Dying Light: The Following Reveal Trailer

After a successful showing at Gamescom 2015, Techland has released the reveal trailer for Dying Light: The Following – a story-based expansion set in a massive new area that’s as big as the original maps from Dying Light combined. Dying Light: The Following will see Kyle Crane travel to a hazardous outback ruled by mysterious and fanatical cultists whose beliefs have unnerving connections with the zombie outbreak.

To get close to the cult and unravel their secrets, players will need to earn the trust of the locals. Through various missions and tasks, players will be able to choose their own path for infiltrating the inner circles of the cultists. In order to succeed in this harsh countryside, players will also gain access to fully customizable and upgradable dirt buggies. With its own unique skill tree, players will be able to traverse the vast expanse of the Harran countryside in what is their deadliest weapon yet.

“Gamescom 2015 was our first chance to let people play Dying Light: The Following so I was a bit nervous – admits producer Tymon Smektała. But so many positive reactions really showed me we made the right decision to work on this expansion. With its new map and far-reaching gameplay additions, it feels like we’ve hit the sweet spot for what players are expecting from us.”

While a release date is still to be determined, Techland has confirmed that Dying Light: The Following will be priced at $14.99 (UK and Euro pricing TBC), while all Season Pass holders will receive the expansion completely free.
