Overview

Batman: Arkham Origins takes place years before the two previous Arkham games, and shows off a younger and unrefined Batman as he squares off against many classic Batman villains for the very first time. Black Mask has hired eight assassins (including Deathstroke, Deadshot and Bane) to kill Batman in Gotham City on Christmas Eve. Unlike the first two games in the series, which were developed by Rocksteady Studios, Origins was developed by WB Montréal.

The Freeflow combat from the earlier games returns and has been upgraded yet again. Gotham City's playable area is made up of Old Gotham, including the playable area from Batman: Arkham City, as well as an entirely original area called New Gotham, effectively doubling the size of the game world from the last game.

A sequel game, Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate, was released for Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita simultaneously, as well as a companion mobile game. Blackgate was later re-released as an HD remake for Xbox Live Arcade, the Playstation Network, and PC.

Pre-Order DLC

Deathstroke the Terminator, merciless assassin, will be available as a playable character in Challenge Mode (including two exclusive maps) via pre-order exclusive DLC for Arkham Origins. Press releases from WB Games stated this will be available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii U and PC versions of the game.

There will be two maps based on Black Mask via pre-order DLC for Arkham Origins.

Announced at Sony's E3 2013 press conference. Jack Tretton announced that the PS3 version of Arkham Origins would have two exclusive costumes and 5 maps. Azrael's Batman costume from the Knightfall storyline and the batsuit from the infamous 1966 Batman TV show, made famous by Adam West.

Supported Platforms Confusion

The box arts released with the press release and first pre-rendered trailer lack the DLC blurb on the Nintendo Wii U for the UK versions, however, an Italian version of the Wii U box art does feature the DLC blurb on the box art. As of May 24, Amazon.com also listed the pre-order bonus DLC for the Wii U version and later on updated box arts on UK retailer websites appeared, featuring the DLC info. Warner Bros. finally confirmed the Deathstroke DLC for the Wii U version in early July.

Season Pass

Announced on September 26th, 2013. The season pass for Arkham Origins which is available for $19.99/£15.99 offers players five pieces of downloadable content. Two of those pieces are skin packs: the New Millenium Skins Pack and the Infinite Earths Skin Pack. The other two are an exclusive set of challenge maps called the Initiation DLC which lets players play as Bruce Wayne as he trains to become the Dark Knight, though it was misleadingly marketed as a full singleplayer chapter with an emphasis on storyline. The last piece of DLC, called "Cold, Cold Heart" was officially released on April 22, 2014. Taking place one week after the events of the main storyline (on New Year's Eve), it tells the tale of Batman's first encounter with the villain Mister Freeze within the Arkham universe. This last story DLC also introduces players to Batman's XE (Extreme Environment) Suit, designed to protect him against the cold created by Mister Freeze's weapons.

Exclusive to the season pass are two extra skins, Brightest Day Batman and Gotham by Gaslight Batman.

Unlike the last two Arkham games, which were composed by Ron Fish and Nick Arundel, Arkham Origins' soundtrack was composed by Christopher Drake who is a regular DC Animated composer.

Game Informer May Cover Revealed: Batman: Arkham Origins

Warner Bros. Games Montreal has taken the mantle of the bat from Rocksteady Studios this time around for Batman: Arkham Origins. WB Montreal has full access to Rocksteady's custom modified Unreal engine to capture the look and feel of the Arkhamverse. As the title suggests, the game takes place years before both of the previous Arkham titles when a young, unrefined Batman encounters many supervillains for the first time. On our full cover image below, fans will recognize the assassin Deathstroke, who appears for the very first time in a core Arkham game.

Heading up the vision for Arkham Origins is creative director Eric Holmes, known for being the lead designer of open world action hits The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype. A self-professed lover of comics, Holmes even wrote the miniseries Transformers: Megatron Origin for IDW.

Gamers won't have to wait long to experience Batman's lastest adventure. Batman: Arkham Origins releases October 25, 2013 on Wii U, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Na GoW: Judgment man išties patiko. Savotiškas toks, žėsm kaip su šiuo bus. Svarbiausia manau yra tai, kad išlaikytų savo aplinką bei kovos sistemą na žinoma ir geros istorijos.

Labai matosi, kad nuotraukos prerendered yra, na ir man visai patinka tai, kad žiemos metu vyks, jaučiu primins 1992 metų Batman Returns filmą :D Tik va pats Batman'as visai storas paliko, matyt lašinių priaugo, kad nesušaltų :D

Publications GamesMaster, Videogame, and NAG Magazine have revealed a new round of details about Batman: Arkham Origins. You can find a summary of their information below.

 

- Origins’ Batman is version 0.9 as opposed to Arkham City’s 5.0 Batman

- Warner Bros. Montreal feels it has made the coolest version of Deathstroke we’ve seen in media

- Important to make Batman scary again

- Thugs will show that they’re in awe of Batman and debate whether or not he’s human

- The team considered implementing robotic drones, but were cut since they didn’t want players involved with having to be defensive at all times during predator sections

- Gusts of wind from the dynamic weather system was considered as well, which saw thugs standing still and covering their eyes

- Idea was cut since it was difficult to control Batman

- Batman is impulsive, overconfident as he still has to encounter an opponent on par with his strength

- Batman is also clever, but doesn’t think of everything

- Ex: when interrogating a thug he can be dominated by violence and stun the thug before getting the information he wanted

- Batman will be affected psychologically by major difficulties he encounters during the game

- This changes him into the more realist and stoic Batman from the previous games

- Rupert Thorne is mentioned (as well as Falcone)

- Some of the 8 assassins will be side missions, and we will not be finished with them from the first encounter

- Unlock the location for the Batwing through an entire side mission

- For the mission, an unknown hacker has jammed the radio system and Batman needs to restore it

- New combat move: Batman can rush toward an enemy while knocking another one on his path

- Freeze boss fight from Arkham City is the main model for Origins boss fights

- According to NAG, Kevin Conroy will not be reprising his role as the Dark Knight in order to fit this younger version

Conroy stepped up onto Twitter to try and clear up the confusion himself, and inadvertently let the bat out of the bag.

 

"Confusion in Dallas!," he wrote. "I am in new ARKHAM GAME coming soon, NOT ARKHAM ORIGINS coming this fall."

 

The tweet has since been deleted, presumably because the actor got spanked by Warner Bros. for announcing their new game without consent.

UPDATE:Batman: Arkham Origins publisher Warner Bros. has explained its decision not to include a multiplayer mode in the game's Wii U version as it had decided to focus its efforts on the platforms with a sizable multiplayer audience.

 

"MP will be available for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC," a Warner Bros. spokesperson told Eurogamer. "The team is focusing development efforts on platforms with the largest MP audience."
