SOE has confirmed DC Universe Online and Planetside 2 will be released on PS4. Each will be made available as free-to-play digital downloads later this year, reports IGN. Earlier this week, DCUO’s Larry Liberty said PS4 would be an “MMO-friendly platform.” Not much else was annnounced regarding the titles on the console, but just knowing both are coming is good enough for now. We expect to hear more at E3 next week.

Warframe, the free-to-play co-op shooter from Digital Extremes, is coming to PS4 with the same microtransaction-based model, Creative Director Steve Sinclair tells IGN. Warframe is currently out on Steam for PC. It's a third-person sci-fi shooter that pits groups of players against invading enemies, with distinctive ninja overtones.

 

"We hope we can make [free-to-play] attractive for the console audience," Sinclair says. "Instead of dropping 60 bucks on a six-hour game, [a person] might drop a few bucks here and there on our game, which gives some of our players 500 hours of entertainment."

 

Digital Extremes is the Canadian studio behind the Unreal series, The Darkness 2 and the recent movie-inspired Star Trek.

o PSN tures visi kas pirma karta isijungs konsole pasijungs neta ir tiesiog reikes susikirt ACC. arba naudot jau turima. be jo isvis konsole kaip ir neveiks kol to nepadarysi. tas pats kaip ir dabar yra. taigi nieko naujo.

Man įdomu pasidarė koks bus meniu PS4 , jau geriau butu panašus į PS3, aišku galėtu dadėti kaš ko naujo, tik kad ne butu kaip PSN naujas ar kaip X

Nes tikrai paprastesnis maniu man geriau negu tokie kaip PSN Store ar X360

Sony’s love affair with independent developers has, in recent years, made the PlayStation Network the newest destination for great games made by smaller teams that don’t have the means, the funding, or the tools that many triple-A developers have.

 

One of the great champions of Sony in the last year is Brian Provinciano, the lone developer of Retro City Rampage. He once referred to Microsoft’s ”intimidating corporate vibe” and talked to us extensively about why he prefers developing for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

 

Well, Mr. Provinciano recently Tweeted an image of a shirt Sony is handing out to indie devs like him that appear to double-down on Sony’s philosophy while taking a bit of a stab at the company’s primary competition. Check it out.

Super Motherload isn’t just coming to the PlayStation 3 – a PS4 version has been confirmed as well. A PC edition is also in development.

 

XGen Studios CEO & Founder Skye Boyes said:

 

“We’re excited about the PS4 system and what this next generation console can offer to Super Motherload players. In addition to the ample feature set and gameplay planned for the PS3, we’re leveraging some very interesting new capabilities of the PS4.”

 

Launch dates are up in the air currently, but we should be hearing more as the year progresses.

NBA 2K14 has been confirmed for both current and next-gen consoles.

 

LeBron James is the cover star of the 2K Games basketball title, which will hit on October 1st for PlayStation 3. The PS4 version, set to launch alongside the console itself, will sport some - not yet detailed - unique features.

 

In addition to this, The King James Bonus Pack has been detailed for current-gen. It includes bonus content for Path To Greatness Mode, unlocks LeBron James in Blacktop Mode, a LeBron James Signature Skill and 10,000 Virtual Currency.

 

All this and more in the two trailers below. There's no gameplay though.
