What a Steve Jobs Appearance Would Mean for Apple's March 2 Event

Nuotrauka

AllThingsD has just posted an interesting article, discussing the rumor that Steve Jobs is "definitely mulling" appearing on stage alongside his fellow Apple executives to show off Apple's new product and software, most likely the iPad 2, and a preview of iOS 5. As Mr. Jobs is on medical leave as he battles a form of pancreatic cancer, it was widely expected that Apple COO Tim Cook would run the show, and Jobs would not appear.

A Jobs appearance, while unexpected until this rumor surfaced, has some different implications for Apple's widely publicized event. If he does make even the most brief of appearances, commentators and media will be scrutinizing his every move, and will be looking particularly at his visible health, in order to gauge Jobs' future influence to the company he created and turned into a technological superpower.

If he does make an appearance, I'd expect it to only happen if Jobs looks and sounds visibly healthy. There's no way that Jobs would want to detract from what is likely to be a very exciting event regarding the future of both Apple's hardware and software. If he seemed sick, he would take away from that excitement. On the other hand, a healthy and confident Jobs (who has recently been spotted on Apple's campus in Cupertino, not to mention dining with the President) would boost Apple's product introduction even more, as well as Apple fan morale worldwide.

Regardless of whether he appears tomorrow or not, we wish Steve Jobs a speedy recovery, and hope to see him back on stage as head honcho as soon as possible. I, for one, would be thrilled if we got a glimpse of the black sweater and blue jeans tomorrow.

Ehhh, vos ne visą gyvenimą paskyręs, BAM, vežys. ;) Tikiuosi greit sugryš. ;)

Regardless of Steve's health, he should refrain from attending the event in order to show both consumers and Apple shareholders that the future management team is fully capable of running the company smoothly in the absence of Mr. Jobs.

Steve Jobs To Put In Surprise Appearance At Apple Event Tomorrow?

We hope you have a pinch of salt handy, but today AllThingsD is reporting that Apple CEO Steve Jobs is ‘considering’ putting in a surprise appearance at tomorrow’s iPad 2 event.

Nuotrauka

Citing people ‘close to the situation’, the technology site says that while an appearance by the charismatic CEO is by no means a certainty, Jobs could make at least a cameo appearance.

If he did appear, sources said Jobs would at least make a brief appearance onstage, along with other top company execs in showing off Apple’s latest version of it hugely popular tablet.

Jobs is currently on sick leave and it’s been widely believed that he wouldn’t be in attendance at the event.

Whether Jobs is the kind of person to settle for a cameo appearance we’re not quite sure, though we at Redmond Pie sure hope he’s at least in the room.

Laukiam laukiam laaabai. ;)

MyGreatFest: World’s First Jailbreak Convention To Be Held In London

The first iDevice convention is to be held in London, England on September 17th 2011. MyGreatFest will focus on Apple’s popular iPhone, iPod touch and iPad as well as the growing jailbreak community.

Nuotrauka

Our mission is to become the largest jailbreak/(i)community convention for coders, themers, hackers, developers or any other mobile device user. To leave others with the better understanding of what jailbreaking actually means to us, and that it does not stand for piracy. We aim to build upon a community that we believe to be the best there is. So please, tell the world our mission. MyGreatFest, for the community, by the community.

Organized by founder Craig Fox, the convention will play host to some of the biggest names in the iOS jailbreaking community, with jailbreak star and Cydia coder Jay (Saurik) Freeman already confirmed to be attending.

Tickets are on sale now via the convention’s eStore and are priced at £27 for adults and £17 for children. Group discounts are also available.

While the first MyGreatFest will be in the UK, Fox plans to run similar events in the US next year, with global domination on the agenda after that.

We do plan on bringing this to the states in early 2012. And by 2014 hope to have 1 in the UK, 2 in the states, and 1 in either japan or australia annually.

Be sure to check out the convention’s website for more info, and if you’re in the UK and can get to London this promises to be a must-see event.

Must See? Tai must see! Gal dar truputį per anksti, bet kas varo? ;) Redagavo Moo

iOS 5 and MobileMe Media Event in April?

Nuotrauka

According to German website Macerkopf.de, Apple will hold a media event at the corporate headquarters in Cupertino to give a sneak peek of the upcoming major version of their mobile operating system, iOS 5, and the new MobileMe. The website reports invitations will be sent out in the second week of April, and admittedly this rumor corroborates several blogs’ speculation that Apple wanted to save iOS 5 for a proper dedicated event instead of a quick preview at the iPad 2 event on March 2.

Previous rumors suggested iOS 5 would get a completely new notification system, deeper integration with the cloud (thanks to the data center in North Carolina) and several location-based features. As for design changes, patents Apple had been awarded showed new scrollable menus and other interface styles. MobileMe is also widely believed to come with a new, free version for all customers with cloud backup support for iTunes and other media. Steve Jobs once said in an email to a customer that MobileMe would get “a lot better” in 2011.

Code references found in early iOS 4.3 betas pointed to a new feature in development called MediaStream for photos and videos. In the past months speculation also indicated Apple was working on a smaller version of the iPhone strongly based on cloud services, although the rumor has been debunked from various sources since then.

There is no doubt, however, that Apple will prefer holding a single event focused on iOS 5 rather than including the preview in other product announcements. With an iOS 5 preview and beta likely to ship in April, developers will have plenty of time to update their applications for a possible launch of the new OS at the WWDC in June alongside the new iPhone.
