:whistling:

iOS 5 To Allow 1080p Video Export

Nuotrauka

Following the increasing speculation about the next-generation iPhone getting an 8-megapixel camera, the iOS 5 beta seeded to developers earlier this week keeps providing interesting details on features that Apple is baking into the OS, but aren’t ready or usable yet as they’re being built for future devices. In addition to iOS 5 enabling playback of 1080p video files scaled down to 720p as Apple hasn’t built a screen with enough resolution to support 1080p, 9to5mac points to more code strings from the developer beta that seem to confirm developers will soon be able to activate video export options at 1080p in their applications. This means Apple’s apps like Camera and iMovie, or other third-party solutions, will be capable of saving 1080p files with the public release of iOS 5. Previously, developers could only export videos to 720p.

Programmers use the AVAsset class to work on a detailed level with timed media assets such as videos and sounds. It lets them examine, create, edit or reencode media files, get input streams from devices, manipulate video clips during realtime capture and playback and more. It is now clear that iOS 5 enables devices such as iPhone 4, iPad 1 and 2 and fourth-generation iPod touch to both decode 1080p videos and encode content in 1080p.

An improved camera/processor in the iPhone 5 could allow the device to go past the iPhone 4′s 720p limitation and also start shooting flicks at 1080p with dedicated export options, though Apple would need to bump up the screen resolution to offer native, true 1080p playback. As far as the camera speculation goes, a new report by Digitimes today also indicates camera lens maker Largan Precision (caught in the Apple rumor mill before) has hinted at increasing orders for 8-megapixel modules from smartphone vendors like Apple and HTC. Reports in the past months suggested Apple’s regular supplier OmniVision would provide the 8 MP camera lens for the iPhone 5, although separate claims pointed out that Largan Precision was selected by Apple.

iOS 5 Final For iPhone, iPad And iPod touch To Drop On October 10th [REPORT]

“Something’s in the air“; that’s the sentence Apple coined a few years ago and applies here as well. Over the last few weeks, we’ve heard tidbits regarding a possible release timeline for iOS 5, including today, when a report claimed that the system will reach Golden Master status on or around September 23rd. If this wasn’t enough evidence, it now turns out that AppleCare employees were told to brace themselves for an increased flux of calls around October 10th.

Nuotrauka

AppleCare is Apple’s support channel, and part of it is phone support. More requests for support are common after a significant new software update is launched, due to previously undetected bugs, questions regarding some of the new features and potentially even hardware damaged from a poorly-conducted upgrade.

iOS 5′s final release is indeed imminent, with the system already in its seventh beta and soon receiving its final bug-squashing Beta 8 seed to be issued on Friday before Golden Master is finally released. As we have previously mentioned, the Golden Master build will then be sent to Apple’s manufacturing contractors, since the upcoming iPhone 5 will come with iOS 5 built right in, not long after it’s seeded to registered developers to assist Apple in finding any critical bugs, if any.

Traditionally, whenever Apple releases a new version of iOS, a new iPhone hardware release isn’t too far behind, which is backed up by the numerous past rumors that pointed to an iPhone 5 release in October. Indeed, increased AppleCare claims only proves that a product launch is happening around that date. Judging by the information we have today, we can confidently say that iOS 5 will be released around the same time frame as the iPhone 5 in October, just in time for the holiday season.

iOS 5 is Apple’s new operating system that runs on the iPhone, the iPod touch and the iPad. First shown off in great detail at WWDC, Apple’s annual developer conference, iOS 5 has since undergone rigorous testing to make sure it’s in tip-top shape for the public release. Among many of the new features that the new system will include, a few of them are incredibly relevant such as a redesigned notification system known as Notification Center, system-wide integration with Twitter and a simplified set up process for new devices that doesn’t require a connection to iTunes.

Tikiuosi kartu su iPhone 5... :o

Guaranteed iPhone 5 Features - Day is Near!

Enough with the 2007 iPhone features!
The new iPhone will be having such new everything, as the notifications which pop above running applications, forcing us to respond before they disappear, running the risk of interruption and annoyance.

Nuotrauka

Notifications

But in iOS 5, Apple has taken a page from rival Google's Android operating system. Incoming notifications now give a subtle indication across the top of the screen. The notifications are now aggregated and accessable by sliding your finger across the top.
Within Notification Center, you can tap a notification to switch directly to the app that sent that notification, or you can easily delete notifications you no longer need. Dismiss Notification Center and you get right back to your app.

Wireless Sync
Apple is catching up to rivals by cutting the dependency on computers and allowing iOS devices to function fully independently.
New iPhones will lose the traditional "Connect to iTunes" screen upon first startup and instead display a Welcome screen; a quick swipe and you can activate your device on the device itself.
New software can be downloaded "over the air," bringing the iPhone in line with rivals like Research In Motion's BlackBerry. Android devices have also enjoyed this capability.

iMessage

iMessage is one feature that users will love but wireless carriers may disparage.
The new messaging feature lets users skirt wireless messaging fees to send texts, photos and videos to other contacts using iOS through the data feed for free.
Different from traditional text messaging, iMessage messages can be sent only between iOS devices, but adds features like group-chat and delivery receipts, read receipts and iChat-like indications of when your contacts are typing back.

Better Mail

Mail is one of the most-used apps across iOS devices, Apple says.
But Apple's own mail client has been sorely lacking, behind almost all competitors in its current form.
In iOS 5, Mail finally gets rich text formatting (think bold, italics, underline); indentation options and support for prioritization, things many business users have come to expect from a smartphone.
These features turn the iOS mail app more into a fully fledged mail client that will be able to handle a lot more real work, letting Apple catch up to BlackBerry and Android.

Twitter

One function that Apple highlighted in the WWDC presentation is the new integration of Twitter throughout the device.
New in iOS 5 is single sign-on support for Twitter -- once you configure your login credentials in the Settings app, third-party Twitter clients will be able to access your login details without requiring a separate sign-in within each app.

Newsstand

Apple is bringing something it calls the Newsstand to the iOS platform, which is an app that organizes newspaper and magazine subscriptions into one place for quick and easy access.
The iTunes store will also include a new place where users can subscribe to new titles as well, with purchases going directly to the Newsstand app, instead of littering the desktop with more icons.
"Most of the major publishers of magazines and many newspapers have signed up for App Store subscriptions already, Apple says.

Reminders

Reminders is a to-do list for the iPhone and iPad that allows users to make a check-list of items, which the app ties into contacts and locations.
"Say you need to remember to pick up milk during your next grocery trip. Since Reminders can be location based, you'll get an alert as soon as you pull into the supermarket parking lot," Apple says.
The app itself is quite simple, but its portability makes it solid.
Perhaps the most useful function is that reminders also works with iCal, Outlook, and iCloud, so changes you make update automatically on all your devices and calendars.

Photo App
The Photo App gets an upgrade in the new OS.
It carries with it more in-app editing functions and quicker functionality.
You can open the Camera app right from the Lock screen. Use grid lines, pinch-to-zoom gestures, and single-tap focus and exposure locks to compose a picture on the fly. Then press the volume-up button to snap the photo as well.
Again, the app syncs with iCloud so photos taken on your iPhone, for instance, can be viewed on the iPad or other iCloud enabled device.

Better Browser

Apple's Safari is among the best mobile browsers already, and new improvements will make it hard to beat.
Among Safari's new features in iOS 5 is a feature called Reader. Like the similar functionality in the desktop version of Safari, Reader cuts out the navigation, ads, and other items surrounding the content, leaving just the relevant text and photos.

iOS 5 vs. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich vs. Windows Phone 7.5 Mango – Comparison

Nuotrauka

Yes, it is a bit unfair to compare two already-released OSes – iOS 5 and WP7 Mango – against an OS that is still somewhat in the making (Ice Cream Sandwich); please keep in mind that this is more of a comparison of features (which, we believe, are final) rather than a comparison based on how these OSes perform in daily life.

Let’s begin with a little history: iOS (then known as iPhone OS) was revealed alongside the original iPhone back in 2007. Apple called it the most advanced mobile operating system and claimed that iOS+iPhone was 5 years ahead of anything else available in the market. Since then, we have seen four major updates, each of which added one highly demanded feature or another. Today, iOS 5 is one of the most feature complete mobile OSes available. It was released on October 12th.

Android OS was unveiled in 2007 as well, but was launched in 2008 with the HTC Dream (aka T-Mobile G1). It is considered to be the most rapidly-developing and feature-complete OS of the bunch, but because of its focus on features, the OS has been lacking in the user-experience department. However, its upcoming release – Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – is expected to offer a vastly improved experience as Google claims that design and UX was a primary focus during development. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available along with Galaxy Nexus sometime in November.

Lastly, there is Windows Phone 7. It was announced last year and is the ‘spiritual’ successor to Windows Mobile. Its initial release had limited features, but Windows Phone 7.5 Mango – which was released only weeks ago – makes up for most of the limitations. WP7 isn’t as popular as iOS or Android, but its popularity is expected to shoot up exponentially once mobile phone giant Nokia starts pumping out their WP7-based smartphones.

So, which OS is the best?
