iPhone 5 to Start Production by Next September?

According to BusinessInsider, that iPhone 5 won't start production until September and that this suggests that next generation iPhone won't make it to the market until the end of the year or even early next.

Nuotrauka

Supporting out comments over the last month, conversations with yet another key component supplier indicates that production for iPhone-5 will begin in September. This is consistent with Avian findings in the supply chain in recent months and we believe the consensus view is moving towards this scenario.

Avian cites "key component suppliers" as the source of the information. They also revive the possibility of a cheaper/lower cost iPhone also in the works, but no new details.

Na ok, bus daug laiko pinigų susitaupyt. :thumbsup4:

iPhone 5 to Power 12.6 Megapixel Camera and 1080p Video Recording?

Well, I hope to see such rumors come true on the upcoming iPhone 5. OmniVision, known for producing out-of-the-box digital imaging solutions, supplied Apple with the back camera sensor for iPhone 4. The California based company has recently produced new sensors called OV12825 for the cameras of upcoming smartphones. The newly developed sensor, which will enter the production stage around early June, will offer 12.6 megapixel resolution along with 1080p video recording on 60fps.

Nuotrauka

Though, no one has yet placed orders for this futuristic sensor, since Apple has previously been including OmniVision sensors, the windows are open. On the other hand, some early rumors with semi-strong basis suggested that Apple will be ditching OmniVision for Sony for a 8MP sensor.

Since the iPhone 4 offers magnificent image sensor and Apple has previously been working with OmniVision, there’s a great chance that Apple may stick to OmniVision for OV12825. If this goes as hoped, the iPhone 5 will be a dream phone for photographers.

Būtent, to mums ir reikia! :whistling:

Report: iPhone 5 To Deliver Few Modifications Over iPhone 4

Nuotrauka

According to the research, findings, and a healthy dose of speculation from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo with Concord Securities, Apple's long-awaited iPhone 5 may ultimately delver only a few, less than groundbreaking improvements over the 4th generation Apple smartphone.

Based on what Apple's overseas supply partners tell him, the iPhone 5 will not bestow an all-new design or anything - at least from an aesthetic standpoint - that is radically different from the previous four generations of the device. Kuo says the new phone will deliver only "slight modifications" from the last generation. In other words, expect the same body and retina display you already have.

It should also be noted that almost everyone - Kuo included - has stopped alluding to Near Field Communication (NFC) technology as a possible new attribute of the iPhone 5. NFC would make mobile payments (transactions via smartphone at the point of sale) possible at participating retailers across the US. As it now appears, Apple is once again putting off mobile payments for a future generation product or device.

All told, the guaranteed iPhone 5 modifications alluded to are those we've already been anticipating - an 8 megapixel rear camera and a Qualcomm baseband (GSM and CDMA). Kuo alleges that the radical overhaul of design and functionality will likely come with the 6th generation iPhone (can you believe we're talking about the 6th before the 5th has even turned up?). Still, the most interesting aspect of Kuo's report is that all signs now point to a September iPhone 5 release.

Na man nelabai patiktų, jai iPhone 5 turėtų mažiau ir nelabai keičiančių pakeitimų...

iPhone 5 Coming in September, Similar to iPhone 4

Nuotrauka

According to a report from Reuters, Apple is scheduled to begin production of the iPhone 5 in July/August with a September release. This news coincides with other reports that Apple will push back the next generation iPhone’s launch to a later fall date.

It is unclear as to why Apple is not following the usual summer release schedule for the iPhone, but all signs point to a different roadmap for 2011. The iPhone 5 is reported to have a faster processor and look very similar to the current iPhone 4.

Reuters,

“Apple Inc suppliers will begin production of its next-generation iPhone in July this year, with the finished product likely to begin shipping in September, three people familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.

The new smartphone will have a faster processor but will look largely similar to the current iPhone 4, one of the people said. They declined to be identified because the plans were not yet public.”

Apple’s focus will be on software at WWDC this summer. iOS 5 will be previewed, and the iPhone 5 will most likely ship with the new OS. If the iPhone 5 does closely resemble the iPhone 4, iOS 5 could be what sets the new device apart from the iPhone 4.

We’ve heard that the iPhone 5 will be a significant redesign of the iPhone 4, but there have also been multiple reports claiming that the device will be similar to the current design.

A recent analyst report speculated that the iPhone 5 will have an A5 processor with a 8 MP camera. While the device could remain similar to the iPhone 4, it will definitely have some significant hardware upgrades to set it apart form its predecessor. For a comprehensive look at what to expect from the iPhone 5, check out this infographic.

The white iPhone 4 will supposedly be released at the end of this month, which would give Apple enough time to profit off its sales before introducing the iPhone 5 in the fall.

Is This What the iPhone 5 Will Look Like?

Nuotrauka

A new report from This is my next reveals some interesting rumors about the iPhone 5. According to Joshua Topolsky (the former editor-in-chief of Engadget), the iPhone 5 will in fact be a significant redesign of the current iPhone 4.

Topolsky doesn’t cite specific sources, but he claims that the iPhone 5 will have a design very similar to that of the fourth-generation iPod touch. Engadget originally said that the iPhone 5 would be a major evolution of the iPhone 4, and this report from This is my next corroborates that claim.

This is my next produced the above mockup to visualize what Topolsky and others are hearing about the iPhone 5. The image is not a factual representation, but an educated guess based on what has been divulged to Topolsky and team.

Overall, the design of the next iPhone is supposed to resemble a “teardrop” shape, similar to that of the MacBook Air. The device will be thinner with a 3.7 inch screen and look “more like the iPod touch than the iPhone 4.

The prototypes that Apple is supposedly testing have a redesigned home button with gesture integration. We’ve already heard a rumor that the next iPhone will not have a home button, but this hybrid solution makes more sense.

“In a sketch supplied to us by a source (on which the image above is based), the home button is doing double duty as a gesture area; this falls in line with testing we’ve seen for gestures on the iPad, and our sources say that gestures are definitely coming in a future version of iOS. The home button will likely be enlarged, but not scrapped altogether.”

This is my next claims that the iPhone 5′s screen will “occupy the entire (or near to it) front of the phone, meaning almost no bezel.” An edge-to-edge screen has also been reported from another source, so This is my next’s claim doesn’t totally come out of nowhere.

If the screen size does increase, Topolsky points out that Apple could stay within the “retina display” expectations by keeping the resolution to 312dpi.

Topolsky’s report also makes some claims about NFC and inductive charging, but those statements are based out of total speculation.

“While the art we’ve seen shows some form of inductive or touch charging, our sources can’t confirm whether or not Apple’s working on its own version of cable-free juicing. There’s also a “swipe area” shown in the drawing which appears to be on the bottom and / or top of the device — that could very well be an NFC point, but that’s pure speculation on our part.”

This is my next clarifies that this report is not based off confirmed fact,

“Now, keep in mind that this info isn’t fact — we’re getting lots of threads from lots of places and trying to make sense of the noise. The versions of devices our sources are seeing could be design prototypes and not production-ready phones. Still, there are strong indications that Apple will surprise a public that’s expecting a bump more along the lines of the 3G to 3GS — and this is some insight into where those designs might be headed.”

The team at This is my next has a good track record, and Joshua Topolsky isn’t one to just blow smoke. Although this information could very well be based off prototype units that never see the light of day, it’s interesting to see the possibilities that exist for the iPhone 5.

The most intriguing part of this report is the gesture-sensitive home button. It seems like a pretty original idea, and it wouldn’t be past Apple to morph the current home button into a more touch-interactive experience. Altering the home button with gestures could be part of the plan to abandon the home button entirely in a future generation of the iPhone.

I like that... ;) Redagavo Moo

Apple Building Two iPhone 5 Models for Release This Fall

Nuotrauka

Apple is reportedly building two iPhone 5 models for a scheduled fall release.

According to an employee of an Apple part supplier, there is reason to believe that the iPhone 5 will actually be two devices: a ‘standard’ and ‘pro’ model.

Previous rumors have said that the iPhone 5 would be a significant redesign of its predecessor, and we’ve also heard rumors that the iPhone 5 will end up being only a slight evolution of the iPhone 4.

Due to the extensive amount of NDAs our source had to sign to work with Apple, he could not give us very many details. He does believe that Apple is going to build two iPhone models, which he referred to as a ‘normal’ and a ‘pro’ version.

Our source says that Apple is ordering components of similar function, but some of them are the very best of what you can get right now.

While the rest of the ordered components are just the standard versions, Apple is also ordering better quality components of the same function. Our source says that both types of components wouldn’t go in one device together, which makes him believe Apple is up to something with a ‘pro’ version.

We believe our source is reliable regarding this information. On top of that, we have also heard from an inside source at Apple that the iPhone 5(s) will definitely not be released until Q2 of this year. Apple’s internal revenue forecast for the next business quarter is the lowest it’s ever been, which means no new iPhone(s) until at least August or September.

According to our inside source at Apple, the company is making plans for the next iPhone announcement in the fall after the “Back to School” season. The next iPhone announcement will take place in the exact same time frame as Apple’s music and iPod event has in the past.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard about a fall iPhone announcement, and we believe our source has only helped confirm that news.

Recent rumors of an iPhone 4S have suggested that the next generation iPhone will only be a slight redesign and focus more on internal hardware. We’ve heard that the next iPhone (whether it be two devices or one) will be a global device capable of running on all carriers.

Perhaps Apple will keep the ‘normal’ version of the iPhone 5 as a carrier-specific device, and introduce a global phone with upgraded specs as the ‘pro’ version.

AT&T Rep Says No iPhone 5 In June or July

Nuotrauka

In the past months, a number of reports from different sources have indicated Apple has no plans to introduce a new iPhone at the WWDC event in June, which is going to be software-focused with previews of OS X Lion and iOS 5. The next-generation iPhone — according to many simply called iPhone 5 following the trend set by the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 — is rumored to be unveiled at Apple’s usual September media event — where the company will also release a final version of iOS 5 and roll out its revamped cloud services. Again, according to the rumors, Apple is doing this in order to shift the iPhone’s release date against the much more profitable holiday season, and a September / Fall 2011 release would make sense for such a strategy.

MacRumors reports today an AT&T customer care representative told a reader that Apple didn’t inform the carrier of any new iPhone in June or July, though there will be one in the future. This customer called AT&T to ask about his eligibility date for a subsidized upgrade, which had been pushed back by five months without reason. As MacRumors reports, this is what the AT&T rep told the customer:

Apple has informed us that they do not plan to release the iPhone in the June to July timeframe, though there will be a newer version in the future. Unfortunately, we have not been given a release time for the new phone. We will release this information on our website when it is available to us.

Information coming from customer care representatives is usually unreliable as these people don’t have access to the company’s fully disclosed plans and operations, and they shouldn’t be able to inform customers of alleged plans and future release dates anyway. However, the statement does seem to confirm previous speculation of a new iPhone slated for a Fall release, with no new model this Summer as Apple has just released a white iPhone and a CDMA version before that in February.

Mmmmmmm... :) I want it now. :)

Will the Next iPhone Be Called ’4G’?

Nuotrauka

Will Apple call the next gen iPhone the 4G? Most have been calling the unannounced device the iPhone 5, but recent reports speculate that Apple could end up calling it the 4s (like the 3GS).

AT&T has changed its 4G nomenclature to include devices that previously weren’t fast enough to be considered “4G.” In AT&T’s latest series of marketing campaigns, they have started to call slower devices “4G.” The devices that are referenced by AT&T posses the same speeds as what is expected from the next iPhone.

Nuotrauka

This is My Next explains the 4G terminology,

“To be very clear, “4G” meant virtually nothing already; it just means less than ever now. Of course, branding is often meaningless and misleading — no surprise there — but in AT&T’s case, it also means that HSPA users are being placed on “4G” data plans that are completely independent of their “3G” equivalents. This isn’t merely a possibility, it’s already happening to everyone that’s got a device with “4G” in its name. And there’s nothing stopping them from pricing these plans differently or offering 4G-specific data buckets down the road. With AT&T’s promise to launch 20 “4G” devices this year, we’re looking at a lot of subscribers — and many of them won’t be on HSPA+ or LTE.”

4G devices originally possessed speeds of up to 21Mbps on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, but AT&T has started calling average, 14.4Mbps HSPA devices ’4G’ as well in its marketing.

Handsets like the HPalm Veer 4G and HTC Inspire 4G have been given the 4G title, even though they operate on the same Qualcomm chips as the iPhone.

The next gen iPhone is expected to use the same Qualcomm chip as the current Verizon iPhone, which would make it a dual-mode phone for all U.S. carriers. Verizon’s CFO recently let the cat out of the bag by calling the next iPhone a “global device.”

Because AT&T is already calling devices of the same network caliber as the iPhone “4G,” it stands to reason that the carriers will want Apple’s next smartphone to adopt that naming scheme. Even if Apple refused to call it the iPhone 4G, the device would still be classified as 4G by the carriers.

We’ve had the iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS, and 4. Apple moved away from the “G” with the latest generation. It’s highly doubtful that they would return to that convention with the next iPhone. Apple has never been the type of company that would allow a carrier to decide on things like product names.

Noooooo!!! We need iPhone 5 with iOS 5... :whistling:

iPhone 5 Parts Confirm New Camera Flash Position?

Nuotrauka

Following this morning’s purported case design for the “iPhone 5G” that seemed to suggest the next-generation device would relocate the rear-facing camera flash to opposite side of the lens, 9to5mac points to leaked iPhone 5 parts posted by well-sourced website Apple.Pro [Google Translation] which indeed show a rear camera lens with no Flash attached.

The alleged parts, posted alongside old iPhone 4 camera components, show a redesigned internal front-facing lens, as well as a different rear-facing module lacking the flash part found on the iPhone 4. While it’s impossible to tell any improvements on the cameras from these photos alone, Apple.pro does seem to confirm today’s “crystal case” for the iPhone 5 with a relocated camera flash on the back panel.

This iPhone 5 Concept Design Will Blow Your Mind!

Fan-created concepts have always shun a light on what an upcoming product might look like, and this one isn’t an exception. Brazilian Graphics Design student Schasiepen Guilherme Martins has created a concept of what the next iPhone should look like, based on the various reports that have come out of the rumor mill over the last few months.

Nuotrauka

As you can tell from the pictures below, the concept alludes to many of the rumored enhancements mentioned over the last few months. The design looks significantly thinner than the current iPhone, just like recent rumors have pointed to, and the screen is 4-inches-large, without visibly increasing the size of the device from what we could tell from the pictures. There’s also an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video shooting capabilities, as most reports have pointed to, and an HD camera on the front. In order to address low reception complaints, Martins also predicts a new antenna placement in order to stop calls from dropping unexpectedly, even when the phone isn’t “held properly”.

Reports of a larger screen have started surfacing ever since then a Chinese website claimed to have obtained concepts of the next-generation iPhone. Although bigger, the screen isn’t expected to increase the device’s size. Instead, it will eliminate the bezel around it. A larger screen won’t only provide more real-estate for the Home Screen and other apps, but it will also make watching video on the device a lot more pleasant.

These concepts seem to bridge reports that the next iPhone won’t look any different from the current one with those that claim that there will be a complete case redesign. In fact, a design like this could exactly be what Apple is thinking of going for: not a radical new design, but some changes to the current one in order to remain competitive in the smartphone market.

The next iPhone, rumored to be named either iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S, is expected to be introduced by Apple in September and released soon after. The new device is expected to include iOS 5, currently in beta stage and expected to come out in its final form later this year, as well as several hardware upgrades, mainly a dual-A5 processor and an 8-megapixel camera.
