Apple To Release White iPad 2?

 

9to5mac reports they got their hands on another iPad 2 digitizer coming from Shenzhen, this time in white:

 

The piece that we have (from Shenzhen City), thanks to the folks at the iFixYouri iPhone repair shop, is the “digitizer” sometimes known as the the thick bezel.

 

If you look closely at the back of the part, below, you will see the camera hole, which happens to fit perfectly with the iPad 2 screen protectors from our friends in Asia.

The leaked white part comes as a surprise as Apple has notably had issues with the release of the white iPhone 4, first announced at the WWDC last year and then delayed multiple times due to manufacturing problems with the white color. A recent rumor suggested Apple fixed the problem with a new Japanese paint — could it be the same of this white iPad 2?

 

The next-generation iPad is expected to be announced on Wednesday. Here’s a roundup of all the rumors and speculation we’ve heard so far.

Is This What The iPad 2G Will Look Like?

So the iPad 2 launch event is just around the corner and the fans are getting crazy about it. As the event comes closer, speculations and rumors of all sorts are floating around. We have just found out an image of what looks like the back of iPad 2G.

 

 

Looks convincing, eh? Why won’t it! It has everything you needed and heard about the second generation iPad. From rear-facing camera, redesigned speakers and round diminishing edges, it has it all. It’s highly likely it’s not a real shot though but a creation of an Apple fan who probably read the iPad 2 rumor round-up and created something that seemed like what he read. The representation, however, is so nicely done that we are speculating this to be really close to what we are going to see on 2nd of March.

iPad 2: What Are the Odds?

 

With the iPad 2 release just a couple hours away, the tech world is reviewing all the rumors that have been swirling around for months about the new model. Some people are doing more than that, though: apparently the sports book mavens at Bookmaker.com have set a line for the possible features that may be introduced. Their guesses are in line with mainstream opinion, though with Apple's penchant for secrecy it could be that someone betting against the line could have a big win.

 

Bookmaker.com is a major sportsline site: the American arm of the giant BetCRIS online gambling empire based in Costa Rica. Their analysts are considered so authoritative that many other sports books wait for BetCRIS to set the odds before setting their own. This is not the first time that the BetCRIS bookies have gotten involved in tech: last September they set a line for the next manufacturer to release a tablet after the PlayBook was announced. Unfortunately, they got that one really, really wrong.

 

Risk manager and oddsmaker Tony Harvey seems like he's done better with the iPad 2 announcement line. The most common predictions are given high likelihood, such as three different versions (presumably Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi+GSM and Wi-FI+CDMA), two cameras, and a non-smudge screen and gyroscope. Other predictions are given split odds, like a flat back and a wide-range speaker. Longshots include a 7-inch model and a retina display.

 

Obviously, we don't recommend that anyone gamble on this. It's a dumb way to risk your money, and Apple has fooled us before. However, for fun let's look at what they came up with. If you aren't familiar with sports betting, the number after the bet is the money line: +500 means you'd win $1000 on a $500 bet, while -1500 means that if you bet $1500 you'd only win $1000. The percentage in parentheses is the odds that bet will win.

iPad 2 Leaked By Amazon.de?

Definitely take this one with quite a few grains of salt, but there's a small chance that Amazon.de may have accidentally leaked the iPad 2 specs a bit early.

 

According to the alleged screenshots, the iPad 2 will feature a 1.2 GHz Processor, Thunderbolt, and a camera. This comes on top of features of the original iPad, including wi-fi and 3G models and bluetooth None of these come as a great surprise, but we would be surprised if this is the real deal. The listing also mentions that the iPad will be available March 17.

 

The link has that was sent to CultOfMac, who first posted the story, did not work once they got their hands on it, and searching Amazon.de doesn't reveal a thing, so this could all be a big fake. But it is some fun speculation on the eve of Apple's event.

Finally, it’s here. At Apple’s media event at the Yerba Buena Center, Steve Jobs just unveiled the second generation iPad. It’s called iPad 2. It features an all-new design, it’s faster, it’s got an Apple A5 processor with dual core CPU, faster graphics. Two cameras, rear and front facing ones. A gyroscope, perfect for gaming.

 

iPad 2 is 33% thinner than the original one, 3.4mm to 8.8mm. It’s got tapered edges and it’s even thinner than the iPhone 4.
