Gear of War's Cliff Bleszkinski dips into Killzone 3

Just because Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski is seen as the face of the Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War series and the newly released Bulletstorm for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 doesn't mean he won't support the competition. In fact, it's not so much about competition with him as he mentions that he picked up Killzone 3.

 

Bleszinski announced from his twitter account, "And yes, I support our products but more importantly I support GAMES. Got my #Killzone!"

 

He then linked to the picture of his copy that you can see in the top left complete with a copyright under his name.

 

This is a great sentiment from Bleszinski that we hope to see from all gamers across all platforms. Guerrilla Games later returned the favor by tweeting back, "@therealcliffyb Have fun playing #Killzone3 !"

 

Killzone 3 hit stores today and there are many deals still available for those haven't picked it up yet but want to.

Guerrilla Staying Vigilant Against PS3 Hackers In Killzone 3

 

The absurd rise of hackers on the PlayStation 3 has gamers and developers concerned alike. Killzone 3 players hopefully won't need to worry, though, as developer Guerrilla Games has pledged to "aggressively" watch the new game's servers.

 

Guerrilla producer Steven Ter Heide told CVG that the team is "working with Sony on the moderation side." How will Guerrilla keep a handle on rogue players? Ter Heide explains:

 

"...We have to step up as developers and say, 'OK what are the holes in our game, what is the data, can we analyze that and see where the problems might be?' We can look at the leaderboards and the stats that most people are playing with and say, 'This doesn't look right. Can we look into that and see what's happening?' That's the reality now, we have to keep patching the game to make sure we keep getting one over the hackers."

 

Here's hoping Guerrilla manages to stay on top of this pressing issue better than other PS3 developers have.

Killzone 3’s second map pack officially announced

This second set of downloadable content (DLC), Steel Rain, will contain two brand new levels inspired by areas from Killzone 3’s singleplayer campaign (catch our review of the campaign over here). You can flip through a great selection of screenshots from this new DLC below, and catch the first details on both maps (‘MP-09 Junkyard’ and ‘MP-10 Stahl Arms’) a little ways below:

 

MP-09 JUNKYARD

 

* Game Type: Guerrilla Warfare (16 players)

 

“The junkyards of Helghan are a wasteland to some, but a valuable resource to others. In the main junk processing facility of Helghan, ISA and Helghast Forces are clashing in an attempt to salvage vehicles and supplies for their war effort. Jetpacks are the key to taking the high ground, but the huge Exoskeletons can quickly turn the tide of the battle on the ground.”
