Myths & Mavericks, the final set of DLC for Rockstar Games' lauded western epic Red Dead Redemption, arrives in September.

The pack, which will be free to download, includes new "fan-favorite multiplayer characters" and additional locations for a number of the game's multiplayer modes.

According to the game's official site, it's intended as a "show of appreciation for the awesome long-term support for the game's multiplayer modes since its release in 2010."

In addition to the DLC, a new title update is also planned for around the same time, allowing Undead Overrun players to return to the mode's original settings.

Red Dead Redemption Myths & Mavericks Bonus DLC Screens Gallop In

With Red Dead Redemption getting a free dose of multiplayer DLC for the fans next week, Rockstar has posted a fistful of screenshots on its News Wire, showing the newly introduced fan-favourite multiplayer characters and locations you'll be getting.

 

Ageing gunslinger Landon Ricketts wil make his multiplayer debut in the Myths & Mavericks Bonus Pack, alongside characters like Nastas, Uncle, Eli and Jonah. For the full list of content you'll get in the pack, check out our previous post.

 

There'll also be a triple XP multiplayer weekend kicking off on September 23rd for all modes in Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare. The free Red Dead Redemption Myths & Mavericks Bonus Pack is out on September 13th.

Sandbox cowboy game Red Dead Redemption is unlikely to launch on PC, Rockstar has said.

In a Max Payne 3 Q&A on its website the company said that despite Red Dead Redemption's absence, PC gamers have a lot to get on with when it comes to Rockstar games.

"We hope that with the announcement that L.A. Noire is coming to PC this fall, and the knowledge that our next big game Max Payne 3 will have a PC release (plus that we've released both Grand Theft Auto IV and the Episodes from Liberty City for PC), we can finally put to rest any misconceptions that we've 'abandoned the PC platform'," Rockstar said.

"We do know that, yes, there is just one title absent from our PC release plans - that game of course being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we're well aware that some fans have been asking for it. All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) - we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms.

"To PC gamers, we hope that between the Grand Theft Auto titles, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, you'll have plenty of great Rockstar action to enjoy."
