Liteon DG-16D2S diskasukis patvirtintas

On the 3rd of June da-mista posted info about a new Lite-on drive labelled DG-16D2S (FW: 83850c) in our Xbox 360 tech forum here where he had problem reading the flash using the 360 Xtractor tool. Now other websites confirm this drive have new hardware/firmware.

Aš žadu iš Amazon imti X360, tikiuosi ten tas LiteOn kur flešinsis. Bet manau ankščiau ar vėliau eis nuflešinti.

nu kas ketina pirkti lai netempia gumos, nes bus reikalu kai toki gausi.

I just flashed my first xbox 2 days ago and it was a brand new system with this Liteon drive listed here. AOA2, It took me a few hours as I had trouble with a few things but for a noob I was able to do it.

I just did one last week and it flashed and keyed with no problem

Allready flashed 4 of these without any problems and 2 of these reported missing serial informatio

I flashed one of these last night, manufactured in March 2009. Had problems with getting the tray in the right position the first time (unusual for me) but it got all the data it needed without any complaints.

 

PEKAC is my guess. Not like most people posting around here really understand what they're doing.

These are definitely moddable, I have been able to flash them and have done quite a few. They do give me some issues sometimes with the tray not being at the right spot and also have had them report back as missing serial info. They are moddable though, for sure

kaip tai netokia ? cia viskas prasidejo nuo to kad patvirtinimas jog tikrai toks yra romas, tik veliau ant flashinimo pasikreipet.

na kaip zmones raso tipo jau kazkas ji lauzia tik paskaicius atrodo kad sis drive yra isrankesnis/ jautresnis (kaip cia priestai raso turi problemu su tray ). taigi gali but kad viskas gerai ir cia veltui audros kyla

did some research on a German forum and apparently the key of the new Lite-On can be dumped/ read out with a probe like the Xecuter one but you have to use alternative points on the PCB.

There arent any specific instructions yet but trying the different contacts on this picture out kind of randomly worked for 4 people in the original thread.

 

There is no information yet if flashing with that Key and the old firmware works so try that on your own risk because it might not work, the PCB got a different firmware chip revision than the older Lite-On drives.

Apparently the drive can be flashed there are a couple of people on Xbox-Scene and also on Gulli.com who made it to dump the key the normal way and flash it with the regular firmware.

The only difference seems to be that it is more difficult to get the tray in the proper situation but it appears to be flashable just like the older drives....

Great news from Team HyperX....

The LiteOn revision 83850c that has been mainly coming out of repair centers in europe has been fully dumped. More details will come as the firmware is fully decrypted, but at the very worst we have a work-around if all known backdoors are disabled. A solution for this model will NOT be released to public until this version becomes mainstream. E.g. is being shipped commercially with new xbox360's.
