Overview
After the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the legendary Kazuma Kiryu faked his own death, hoping to leave his past behind. He wandered to the Buddhist Daidouji temple and took on the name Joryu. However, the clan that owns the temple, discovered Kiryu's true identity, and tasked him with guarding a certain individual, dragging him back into action.
Gameplay
Kiryu will have two fighting styles that he can switch between in the middle of combat: Yakuza Style is a rendition of his classic moveset from his time as the Dragon of Dojima, with brutal strikes and grappling moves. Agent Style is a new set of moves making use of Kiryu's new high-tech bodyguard tools to take on multiple enemies, focusing on speed and precision over strength.
Agent Style Weapons
- Spider: monofilament thread that allows Kiryu to lasso weaker enemies from afar and whip them around the battlefield. Can also be used to acquire out-of-reach items while exploring.
- Hornet: tiny flying drones that home in on enemies, dealing minor damage and distracting enemies they hit. Kiryu can summon several of these at a time.
- Firefly: tiny explosives in the shape of cigarettes. After a short delay, will explode and damage everyone caught in the blast radius, including Kiryu himself.
- Serpent: Custom leather shoes with a built-in gadget that lets Kiryu speed around the battlefield to dodge opponents or close the distance.
In Osaka Bay, a large container ship known as The Castle contains several minigames, both old and new. From old standbys like casino games (Blackjack, Poker, etc) and a Colosseum, to customizable outfits and the Hell Team Rumble.
Legendary Fighter Pack offered as DLC allows Kiryu to automatically recruit Goro Majima, Taiga Saejima, and Daigo Dojima to his team, the Joryu-kai.
