Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield: Bad Company are two of the most enjoyable first-person shooters around, but these focus more on the explosive action than precise realism.
Enter Operation Flashpoint 2, aiming to combine the drama and intensity from both those games with a new dimension of strategic simulation.
So, why are we so excited? Well, firstly, in this FPS you control an entire army. Here are four more reasons why you should be as excited as us...

1. It's a real military sim
The original Flashpoint was based on a real military simulation used by forces all over the world, including the US Marine Corps and Israeli Defence Force. Although the sequel's based on a new game engine, it combines the same realistic strategy with bigger battlefields, more military units, and realistic visuals.

2. The evolving storyline
With a global energy crisis looming, the world's attention turns to Skira - a small, oil-rich island off Japan. With marines conflicting with the Chinese People's Liberation Army, your missions evolve depending on your approach. Failure to help ambushed troops as they land on the island, for instance, can cost you later in the game.

3. More ways to play
Whether you choose to play as an infantry marine, tank commander or a helicopter pilot, each role presents a different experience based on their real-life counterparts. On the ground, for instance, you command a troop of AI marines. You can even shape the formation of your tank column to avoid ambushes.

4. One shot, one kill
This isn't COD4, so your health won't regenerate. It's possible to be killed by a single bullet, and not just those fired by snipers. If you're seriously wounded, you'll need to find a medic immediately, or face a slow death. If you play as a special forces operative you'll be able to radio for a medivac drop... if mission orders permit.
